Yeoman Track (including GPS file)

Yeoman.jpg
7.5 km single track/logging track, 10 km gravel road. The Yeoman Track is an old logging track where old logs were once hauled to Yeoman's Mill. The mill started in 1926 and ran for 30 years. Logging ceased in the 1960's. This is a shared track for walking and mountain biking.
The restored historic Ellis Hut is at the northern end of the track. It was constructed in 1884. It is also known as Murderer's Hut after it was used as a refuge by accused murderer, Jack Ellis, for nine months in 1904.
Parts of the track where slightly overgrown in summer 05 but still the track was in good condition. If the water level of the Makaroro level rises after strong rainfalls, the river is uncrossable.
